BRIEF BIO
Mr. Hertzberg is founder and senior officer of Data Day Inc. and of its two
subsidiaries, PAGE Assured Systems and Hertzberg, Harelick & Co. He has
been in computing since 1958, and focused on systems security, audit and
control since 1969. A lifelong educator, he was Curriculum Coordinator, computer
curricula at NYU and Assoc. Professor, Information Sciences, Fairleigh Dickinson
University and at Baruch College, CUNY. He created and directs The
Users'Partnerships and their chapters.
George was a founder and senior officer of the New York Metro chapters of
the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) and the Information Systems
Audit and Control Association (ISACA). He created ISSA and ISACA Annual
Conferences and provides worldwide seminars, training programs and symposia
for these and other professional organizations. His Formulae on Risk Analysis
and Control are now the standard. His initiation and direction of the
Single-Sign-on and Internet Security committees of the ISSA have received
wide acclaim.
Professor Hertzberg was a pioneer in programming languages for the late Admiral
Grace Hopper in the development of COBOL and an early implementer of data
communications. He served as a project manager, systems analyst and programmer
of human resources and materials requirements applications for Exxon. George
was Director of EDP Audit and Systems Security for Empire Blue Cross/Blue
Shield; and Chief, Bureau of EDP Audit, Comptroller's Office, New York City.
He also participated in President Reagan's Private Sector Survey on Cost
Control (The Grace Commission.) and was the only Democrat on the Board of
Directors of the New Jersey Action Committee for the Grace Commission.
Hertzberg received the coveted Thomas J. Fitzgerald Award for outstanding
achievement in the field of Systems Security and for his career-long service
to IT Audit and Control. His engagements include management, control, security,
and contingency planning as well as evaluation and audit of data communications.
He provides architecture, design & integration for security and audits
of UNIX, Win NT & XP, SUN and other platforms. He has been cited for
his outstanding reviews and cost-containment and security solutions for internet
applications.
